    • MotorTrend World's Greatest Drag Race 9 - 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile

After they do their Best Driver's Car competition MotorTrend uses the cars again for a big drag race. It is a good way to generate extra content from the same set of cars and this year we have a nice selection for a 12-way race.

Here are the cars in the order Randy Pobst chose them in the Best Driver's Car Competition from least favorite to most favorite:

      12. Challenger SRT Hellcat
      11. Lamborghini Urus
      10. Bentley Continental GT V8
      9. Toyota GR Supra
      8. Aston Martin DBS Superleggera
      7. Jaguar XE SV Project 8
      6. Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+
      5. BMW M850i xDrive Coupe
      4. BMW F87 M2 Competition
      3. Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang
      2. McLaren Senna
      1. Porsche 992 Carrera S

It's certainly fun entertainment to watch all these cars run at the same time. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door gets a lead thanks to all wheel drive but is quickly passed. The Senna just charges past everyone.

      The 1/4 mile result?

It should be criminal for them not to list the trap speeds but the Porsche impresses doing the most with its 420 rated horses. Of course the Senna wins.

Now, they do a 1/2 mile race as well by staying in it. The Aston Martin DBS seems to come alive at triple digit speeds. It finishes in an impressive second place and the Porsche falls to fourth. Power reigns supreme in the 1/2 mile.

The Urus shows what a monster it is as well. An SUV finishing 5th in that crowd? Impressive.

      Enjoy:

It should be interesting when they include the new 992 Turbo

I have a feeling Porsche is going to deliver something to remind everyone why the 911 Turbo is regarded the way it is.

        I'm eagerly anticipating it.

I bought the Motortrend app a few years ago to watch "The Greatest Drag Race". Then found out it was staged to finish with numbers obtained from a prepped drag strip. AWD leaps ahead, then let off the gas to let others catch up per drag strip single pass results. MT even admitted it was staged for safety and problems getting a clean launch with that many cars at one time. They have not commented on last/this years 1/2 mile run. Not sure if it is single staged or actually multiples.

Yep, they use the numbers from their tests.

It's just entertainment. You piece together the results essentially but the Senna obviously should win.

MT should rethink it. This would be an outstanding race with no prep concrete. Even if they had to break the field in half and then run off the winners in round three. Real world racing would increase their hits and $

Word has spread that their vid is a staged fake. That has to hurt revenue.

It's not about accuracy with MotorTrend (or any major mag). Just look at their Corvette dyno fiasco.

I would like to ask if s55 is compared with s65. The best option that s65 can do is Gintani Stage X. Can s55 be easily surpassed?
