Started a pinball machine collection - The pinball thread

I've always wanted a pinball machine. I don't know why just something about them.

I recently started playing pinball arcade (http://www.pinballarcade.com/) and it got me wanting a table of my own. I highly you recommend you download the app and try it out. It has many of the big name tables on it and it's cheaper to download a virtual table than shell out $6k+ for the big names.

After playing Getaway it brought back a bunch of memories and that is the table I had to have. It ties in well with the car theme I have going plus it's just my favorite table to play. So I bought it. These are the for sale photos I don't have the machine set up yet:

The guy I was buying from had like 20+ tables at his home and his wife was bugging him to sell some. So I also picked up this 1978 original Playboy from him while I was at it:

The Playboy needs some TLC and restoration work but I look forward to that. Going to get it as close to new as possible plus do a couple minor mods like new LED lights.

A pretty damn cool bachelor pad accessory though.

I'll add pics once I get the machines set up.

Got the Getaway set up and it's a blast. The real thing is way harder than the video games though. Awesome table:

Playboy is posing a bit of a problem as there is an issue with the bolt threads for one of the legs. The coin door also is stuck. I'll see if I can get this fixed tomorrow.

Thought I'd show you guys some videos of how far pinball has evolved. The newer machines are doing some really cool stuff:

These guys probably have the most advanced cabinet out there. You can swap in new playfields and even design your game. The playfield is basically a huge LCD with ball tracking technology.

Would be cool to create a BoostAddict game, eh?

Going to get this for my next machine. You can swap games in 3 minutes. Don't need to be stuck to a game. Sick:

You'll enjoy the app. Just know purchases don't transfer between platforms.

I play it on the Ipad.

Just did a little 'mod' on my machine. The checkered flag on the flippers looks great I think:

I'm also installing some new LED lights. Guess I have a new hobby.

Well, you have to start small.

I'm doing this one next which is more complex:

So do you have to put a coin in it everytime you want to play or is it overridden? I feel like you'd need to keep a pocket full of coins and only use a certain amount per day. You know back in the day when you reach down into your pocket and realize you only have a few left so you get all serious and "do your best"?

You just open the coin door and can click a button to add credits. Some machines you just set on free play.

I kind of think it would be funny to invite people over to play but force them to use coins.

She seemed cool considering the garage was filled with pinball hardware and old cars and she had to park on the street.

Added another one to the collection, Champion Pub. Very rare game that just has to be played to understand how awesome it is.

I need to find some people to help me get it inside and set up or bribe a couple friends:

I'm sure most of you won't care but just have to vent.

The guy that was restoring my 1978 Playboy machine (and took over two years) tried to steal it and list it for sale:

    I'm fuming.

Going to the police station to file a report tomorrow. I told him I saw the classified ad and if he thinks I'm going to let him steal my machine and sell it he's crazy.

    $#@!ing POS people...

No offense but how the $#@! does something like this take 2 years? Did he originally say how long it would take? Anything more than 3 months seems extreme. I hope you didn't pay up front. Anytime I deal with something 'not normal', which is what I would consider this business transaction, I never pay in full. At most 1/2 now and 1/2 when the job is finished.

Is it a real business? If you have a receipt and original proof of purchase I think you would be fine. I would find it hard to believe if it is not serialized.

Just show up with a truck and two friends. $#@! the police. He tried to $#@! you, now $#@! him.

Edit: Looks like a nice machine!

You should see the thread on the pinball forums, epic.

Doubt I'll get any work done but I'm close to getting my machine back for the agreed upon price. Sometimes my forum skills leave me in awe of myself.
